Dehydrated Slice Of Lime Grows Desperate

Water Fountain, Hallway – In a stunning act of self-preservation, a slice lime escaped from the an alcoholic beverage, crossed several yards of harsh carpeting, and climbed to the top of a water fountain, hoping to re-hydrate itself.

“It was awful," said the lime. "First they sliced me, and skewered me on the edge of a glass. Then they squeezed me -- they squeezed me dry. I nearly died then and there, all squished and de-juiced. But then I thought about my wife and kids back home in the fridge, and how if they were ever going to grow up from seeds to be trees, they’d need me. I didn’t have hope, but I knew I had to go on."

The slice of lime journeyed for several days, traveling mainly by the whims of people picking him and putting him down, luckily not into any garbage cans. At last, nearly dried up and finished, he made it to the top of the water fountain. It was then it discovered its inability to press the button which operated the fountain.

“Aw, crap,” it said.
